Senior Brand Strategist & Copywriter (Full Time)

Full-time · New York or Remote (EST preferred)
Estimated Salary Range: $120,000–$145,000 (base)

We are hiring a senior brand strategist and copywriter to lead positioning, narrative, and messaging for early-stage companies.

At Little Plains, strategy does not live in decks or Google Docs. It lives in language systems and live products. Writing is how strategy becomes real.

This is a senior, hands-on individual contributor role. You own both the thinking and the output.

Why This Role Exists

The expectations placed on early-stage companies have changed.

Founders are asked to move faster, spend more efficiently, and still deliver work that feels considered, credible, and differentiated. The old tradeoffs between speed, quality, and cost no longer hold…but meeting this moment requires a different way of working.

Brand strategy is no longer about producing static positioning or one-time narratives. The work is to define what a company stands for and to build language systems that can adapt as products, teams, and markets evolve.

New tools and systems expand what’s possible, but judgment, clarity, and point of view remain the core responsibility. This role exists to operate at that intersection; where rigor, speed, and taste have to coexist.

About Little Plains

Little Plains is a modern brand and product studio. Our work is built in context, alongside design and product, guided by strong points of view and supported by AI-driven systems that make speed and rigor compatible. Strategy only matters if it shows up in the work itself.

We work primarily with early-stage companies, often from pre-launch through Series A, at moments where clarity, speed, and conviction matter most. Our partners are founders and small senior teams building new products, categories, and narratives under real constraints.

We operate as an embedded creative partner rather than a traditional digital agency, building brand, product, and go-to-market work into cohesive systems that can scale as companies grow. Our work spans healthcare, biotech, SaaS, and consumer products.

What You Will Do

This is a senior, hands-on role that combines individual craft with leadership.

Day to day, you will:

  • Own strategy and writing on your projects end-to-end; leading initiatives across projects, small teams, and AI-driven workflows
  • Set directions and create clarity; guiding collaborators, aligning stakeholders, and keeping work moving forward
  • Lead through structure and judgment, whether mentoring a junior writer, partnering with designers and product teams, or directing generative systems
  • Think in systems, not just deliverables
  • Design prompts, narrative frameworks, and language architectures that shape outputs across people and tools
  • Architect brand decks, voice guidelines, and messaging systems that become inputs for LLMs, agents, and internal repositories
  • Translate high-quality, hands-on work into systems that scale consistently over time
  • Move fluidly between writing, directing, and architecting;  leading by example, not hierarchy

Strategy matters when it shows up in the language people use.

How We Work

We do not present copy in Google Docs (we do start there!).

Language is developed and shared where it will be experienced, alongside design, product, and interaction decisions. Writing happens in parallel with building, not after the fact.

Our studio operates on connected systems rather than disconnected tools. AI is used as part of our daily workflow to accelerate exploration, iteration, and synthesis, allowing teams to move faster without lowering standards aka it’s better for collaboration! It supports the work, but it does not replace judgment, taste, or responsibility. That’s on you, and our team (of real humans).

The Bar for Craft

We care deeply about quality.

This role requires strong editorial judgment, the ability to take a point of view, and the confidence to make decisions. Tools and systems expand what’s possible; people own the work.

What We’re Looking For

  • Comfort working in AI-informed systems without outsourcing taste, judgment, or responsibility
  • 5–8+ years of experience in brand strategy, copywriting, or related roles
  • Experience working with early-stage or high-growth companies
  • Proven ability to lead positioning and narrative, not just execute briefs
  • Comfort owning both strategy and writing at a high level
  • Experience building messaging systems that scale across products and teams
  • Ability to collaborate closely with designers, developers, and founders
  • Strong traditional craft paired with curiosity about new tools and workflows

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary
  • Paid time off including vacation, holidays, and sick leave
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Profit-sharing tied to studio performance
  • Equity-upside participation for long-term team members
  • Flexible work setup with a preference for EST collaboration
