Brand Design Intern

Summer 2026 Internship

New York or Remote (EST preferred)

Contract rate: $20/hr

About the Role

As a Brand Design Intern at Little Plains, you’ll support the creation of visual identity systems that shape how brands show up across digital and physical touchpoints.

This role sits within our brand design practice, where identity is not just visual - it’s structural. You’ll work closely with designers and creative leads to develop logos, typography, and visual languages that are expressive, cohesive, and built to scale across product, marketing, and content.

You won’t just be designing assets - you’ll be learning how brand systems are built, applied, and extended across real-world use.

About Little Plains

Little Plains is a modern brand and product studio. We work primarily with early-stage companies, often from pre-launch through Series A, at moments where clarity, speed, and conviction matter most. Our partners are founders and small senior teams building new products, categories, and narratives under real constraints.

We operate as an embedded creative partner rather than a traditional digital agency, building brand, product, and go-to-market work into cohesive systems that can scale as companies grow. Our work spans healthcare, biotech, SaaS, and consumer products.

What You Will Do

Day to day, you will:

  • Support the design of visual identities, including logos, typography, color, and core brand elements
  • Assist in building and applying brand systems across web, product, and marketing touchpoints
  • Contribute to layouts, presentations, and brand applications
  • Help organize and maintain design files, systems, and documentation
  • Collaborate with designers, strategists, and other disciplines to ensure cohesive outputs
  • Participate in critiques, reviews, and internal workshops
  • Explore new tools and workflows, including AI-assisted and generative design processes

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
  • A portfolio that demonstrates strong visual thinking - identity work, visual systems, or type-driven design
  • Interest in how brands are built and scaled across different contexts
  • A futurist’s attitude towards exploring new tools in AI and beyond
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and iterating quickly
  • Must have access to your own laptop for the duration of the internship
  • Must be available from June 2026 - August 2026; 20 hours per week

What We're Looking For

Someone with strong visual instincts and a growing point of view.

You should be curious about:

  • How visual identity systems scale across touchpoints
  • How design decisions communicate meaning and reinforce strategy
  • The difference between something that looks good and something that holds up
  • How to scale your unique intuition and taste through use of AI

You don’t need tons of experience, but you should care deeply about craft and be intentional in your work.

What You'll Gain

  • Exposure to real brand work across industries and touchpoints
  • Experience contributing to identity systems, not just one-off deliverables
  • Insight into how strategy, design, and execution connect
  • Mentorship and feedback from senior designers
  • A deeper understanding of how brands are built to scale

What to Submit

  • Resume or LinkedIn profile
  • Portfolio showcasing relevant brand or visual identity work (required)
  • A short note on your design interests and why Little Plains
